Assists with developing and implementing legislative and communication strategies that support overall policy strategies. Assists in developing and maintaining strong relationships with key political, business, economic development, governmental, and media contacts. Assists with media issues and inquiries. Represents Dominion at community civic and political events and organizations.Coordinates and serves as liaison for relationships with state and local elected and appointed officials, local business groups, military groups, and other customers. Investigates and advises community leaders and elected officials on constituent questions, problems, or concerns. Assists during any major storm event. May provide leadership to less experienced staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
At least five years directly related experience (Note: A Master's degree can count towards one year of experience).
Related experience and demonstrated knowledge of government, public policy, economic development, and communications.
Strong understanding of the utility industry preferred but not required.
Ability to multi-task, synthesize ideas, negotiation skills and plan strategically.
A knowledge or practice of coalition building on specific issues/campaigns.
Excellent writing and public speaking skills.
Ability to coordinate work among a wide variety of skill sets and to work well in a grassroots environment.
Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: BachelorPreferred Disciplines: Political & Public Affairs, Mass Communication, Political Science, Business Management
